During a May 6 council meeting, Level Plains Mayor Bruce Grantham received permission to repair a washed out roadway near the city's volunteer fire department.

The road leading to the station was washed out after a previous water line break that has since been fixed.

The expected cost of the repair is about $2,500.

A motion was also passed to allow the sale of two police vehicles that are no longer in use on govdeals.com.

In other news, interviews are currently taking place with the top three candidates for the vacant police chief position.

Once a candidate is selected, the decision will be brought before the council.

Council members also adopted Resolution 358, creating a pay slot for the rank of captain within the police department.

The next city council meeting, which is scheduled at 6 p.m. June 3, has been moved from the Level Plains Community Center to city hall, due to the primary election.
