Coffee County is one of 15 southern counties that the Alabama Forestry Commission (AFC) has issued a Fire Danger Advisory.
According to the advisory, dry conditions combined with low humidity, high temperatures and gusty winds have created dangerous wildfire behavior. Currently, Alabama is not under a burn restriction, but the AFC has urged residents to delay outdoor burning until conditions have improved. The AFC requests that residents call AFC for a burn permit during this time.
Other counties under the Fire Danger Advisory include Baldwin, Choctaw, Clarke, Conecuh, Covington, Dale, Escambia, Geneva, Henry, Houston, Marengo, Mobile, Monroe and Washington Counties.
The AFC is Alabama’s state agency responsible for protecting and sustaining the state’s forest resources. For more information, visit forestry.alabama.gov.
