Graduation schedule listed for local schools

• Daleville High School graduation will be Friday, May 20, at 7:30 p.m. in Warhawk Stadium. In case of inclement weather, graduation will be Saturday, May 21 at 9:30 a.m.

• Zion Chapel High School graduation will be Monday, May 23, at 7 p.m. in Green Memorial Stadium. In case of inclement weather, graduation will be held in the gymnasium on the Zion Chapel campus.

• New Brockton High School graduation will be Tuesday, May 24, at 8 p.m. in Gamecock Stadium. In case of inclement weather, graduation will be held in the Coffee County Farm Center. NBHS Baccalaureate services will held Sunday, May 22, at 2 p.m., at Connect Church in New Brockton.

• Kinston High School graduation will be Tuesday, May 24, 6 p.m., on the Kinston Football Field. In case of inclement weather, graduation will be held in the gym. KHS Baccalaureate services will held Sunday, May 22, at 2 p.m. at Ino Baptist Church.

• Enterprise High School graduation will be Thursday, May 26 at 9 a.m., in Wildcat Stadium. In case of inclement weather, graduation will be postponed as long as possible. The ceremony will be on May 27 if not held on May 26. Check the EHS Facebook page for graduation updates. EHS Baccalaureate services will held Sunday, May 22 at 4 p.m., at Hillcrest Baptist Church.

Town Hall Meeting

Enterprise City Council President Turner Townsend, who is also the District 5 councilman, will host a town hall meeting at the Enterprise Farmers Market on Main Street Monday, May 23, at 6 p.m. The meeting is open to the public.

City offices closing for Memorial Day

Enterprise City Hall and other city facilities will be closed Monday, May 30, in observance of Memorial Day.

Department of Public Works will pick up the Monday garbage route on Tuesday. Tuesday’s garbage route will be serviced on Wednesday. The pick-up schedule for the remainder of the week will be unchanged.

City offices and facilities will resume normal operating hours at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, May 31.

Sun offices closing for Memorial Day

The offices of The Southeast Sun and Daleville Sun-Courier will be closed Monday, May 30 in observance of Memorial Day. Classified deadline is 3 p.m. Friday, May 27. Display advertising and news deadlines are at 5 p.m., Friday, May 27. The staff of the Sun/Sun-Courier wish everyone a safe Memorial Day weekend.

Project seeking info on WWII vets killed in action

“The Stories Behind the Stars” initiative was created to organize one central digital location to collect the stories of all Americans who were killed during World War II. These personal stories will be digitally linked to war memorials and cemeteries by a smartphone app so visitors can read the stories of the fallen. Work is currently being done on all of the Alabama WWII soldiers. Those with any information or photos they are willing to share on any soldier who died or was killed in World War II from Coffee or Geneva County, please contact Donna Snell at [email protected] or (334) 774- 6777.

DAV Chapter offers help to veterans

A DAV Chapter Service Officer will be located at the Town Hall in New Brockton Alabama every Wednesday from 9 a.m. till 11a.m. Any veteran needing help with a VA claim is welcome. This is on a walk in basis, no appointment is needed. For further information, contact Mike Doran at (334) 406-6700.

DAV Chapter 9 van program resumes services

The DAV Chapter 9 van program has resumed services to run on Mondays and Fridays to Montgomery and Tuskegee with the same route and hours as in the past. Pick-up is at 5 a.m., at Hardee’s on Rucker Boulevard in Enterprise; and at 5:15 a.m., at Bojangle’s on Daleville Avenue at the intersection off Highway 134 in Daleville. The van will depart to travel back when the last veteran has been seen by a clinic, never later than noon. Chapter 9 DAV meets monthly

Enterprise Chapter 9 of the Disabled American Veterans has monthly meetings at Ruby Tuesday Restaurant in Westgate Shopping Center, 625 Boll Weevil Circle, Enterprise. The meeting is held the second Thursday each month and starts at 6:30 p.m. Come at 6 p.m. to eat prior to the meeting. All pre-retirement active duty and veterans are encouraged to attend.
