The community coming together to celebrate the Fall season with a spooktacular Trunk or Treat was a great success, according to organizers.
Level Plains Police Chief Johnny Summers and Level Plains Mayor Ronnie Thompson teamed with the Level Plains Baptist Church to host a Trunk or Treat at the Obetus J. Waters Memorial Park Saturday, Oct. 30.
Each participating trunk full of treats was decorated in a Bible-based theme and free food was provided by Hibachi Joes.
Summers said that he and the mayor both feel strongly about the importance of community policing. “This was a good way for my officers to connect with the children and all the residents, showing them that police are here to help,” he said.
“That has been my biggest focus since I was named chief in November,” Summers said. “The mayor and I are on the same page about community policing. And we want to take care of what we want to take care of and to treat people like how we want to be treated.”
