Sincere McKenzie (15) and the Daleville Warhawks will look to bounce back this week against Dale County.

The Daleville Warhawks (0-1) will attempt to get the 2020 season on track this Friday, Aug. 28, against Class 4A’s Dale County Warriors (0-1) on the road.

Daleville is coming off a 50-0 loss to Elba, while Dale County also fell 25-14 to Ariton.

Daleville turned the ball over six times against Elba and Dale County turned the ball over four times against Ariton. So, turnovers will be a key this week but Daleville coach Desmond Lett says he just wants to see his team continue to fight.

“It’s one thing to get beat –and I can handle that – but quitting is not an option,” Lett emphasized. “I want to see our guys respond to getting hit in the mouth last week and see if we can come out and fight and show some improvement. Can we improve on some things we didn’t capitalize on last week? That’s what we’re looking for.”

Lett said that he knows Dale County will be coming in just as hungry for a rebound win this week.

“Dale County is coming off a loss, too. So, I expect them to come in hungry and be ready to play,” Lett said. “The way the season is you never know when it’s going to be your last game.

“So, I expect them to come in fighting like it’s their last game.

“I expect to see an athletic, well-coached football team. They do a great job coaching those guys over there.”
