A man with more than two decades of service on the Ozark Utilities Board is retiring.
Ozark Utilities Board General Manager Don Hallford is retiring Feb. 26, according to a news release from the city of Ozark.
Hallford came to Ozark after retiring from a 25-year career with the city of Dothan. During his tenure as general manager the water and sewer systems were awarded numerous “Best Operated Awards” from the Alabama Water and Pollution Control Association.
During Hallford’s tenure, the utilities board completed numerous water and sewer projects totaling approximately $20 million including the drilling of the Tuscaloosa Aquifer Well at 2,735 feet deep, the deepest public water supply well in Alabama; installing radio read meters; clearing over 120-miles of sewer right-of-way; extended sewer service to 319 homes; extensive city wide sewer rehabilitation; and renovating the Southside Wastewater Plant.
Hallford and his wife Jackie will continue residing in Ozark and he is looking forward to playing more golf.
Joe Sexton will take over as General Manager. Sexton has more than 43 years of experience with the Ozark Utilities Board.
