Lady Cats eliminated from state tournament

The Enterprise Lady Cats played in the central division of the 7A state tournament Thursday, May 12, and fell out of competition in two games losing the first game to Fairhope 2-0 and the second game to Prattville 2-1. The Lady Lions have been a formidable foe for the Lady Cats defeating Enterprise twice in the area tournament then ending their hopes of advancing in the state tournament in the second game on Thursday.

Against Prattville, both teams gave a strong pitching performance but the Lady Lions were a little better at the plate. Prattville had eight hits in the game to six hits for Enterprise.

Enterprise jumped out front in the bottom of the first inning scoring one run but that was all the Lady Cats could muster in the contest. Prattville plated two runs in the top of the third and was shutout the rest of the way but that was all it took for them to capture the win.

Gracyn Snell pitched a complete game giving up only two runs on eight hits striking out five.

Georgia Lessman led Enterprise at the plate going 2-for-4 scoring one run. Macy Robinette went 1-for-3 with 1 RBI.

The Lady Cats left nine on base and committed two errors. Prattville left eight on base and committed one error.

Fairhope 2, Enterprise 0

The Lady Cats had trouble at the plate in the first game of the 7A state tournament against Fairhope as they were shutout in seven innings and only had one hit in the game losing 2-0. Fairhope didn’t plate a runner until the bottom of the sixth when they scored two runs.

Skylar Frey pitched a complete game for Enterprise giving up two runs on four hits with two strikeouts.

Kinley Hutto got the only hit for the Lady Cats going 1-for-2. Fairhope had four hits in the game.

Enterprise left four on base and committed one error while Fairhope also left four on base and had no errors.

Enterprise ends the season with a 31-16 record.
