Troy University announced on Dec. 2 that the school has added No. 17-ranked Texas Tech to the basketball schedule and the two will meet this Friday, Dec. 4, in Lubbock, Tex.
The game will fill the void left in Troy’s schedule after the Trojans’ Dec. 2 game with Wake Forrest was cancelled, and will be televised nationally on ESPN2 at 8 p.m.
“One of my close friends who was on my staff is Ulric Maligi, who is on (the Texas Tech) staff,” Troy coach Scott Cross said. “He probably saw on Twitter that our game against Wake Forest got cancelled, and their game against St. John’s got cancelled too. We both had an opening so it was a perfect match.”
This will be Troy’s first nationally televised game of the season and is the start of a long road trip that will include a matchup against UAB on Dec. 5.
