New Brockton senior pitcher McKenlie Jerkins officially signed her letter-of-intent to continue her softball career at Chattahoochee Valley Community College (CVCC) on Nov. 12.
Jerkins committed to CVCC back in July and said after committing that the program as a whole led to her decision to sign there.
“(CVCC coach) Garry (Miller) is a really good coach and I just think they have a really good program there,” Jerkins said this summer. “It’s one of those things where it’s still so surreal to me. I’ve been working my whole life to be able to (play in college) and now I sit back on it and think, ‘Wow, it’s actually happening.’”
Jerkins still has her senior year at New Brockton to look forward to as she’s coming off a junior campaign in which she earned a 14-7 record in the circle last season. She also earned 71 strikeouts in 108 innings pitched with a 3.6 ERA. She also boasted a .300 batting average with 19 RBIs at the plate.
