The Enterprise 17U All Star team won the Dixie Boys Pre-Majors State Championship in Eufaula last weekend.

The 17U All Stars – which featured a number of high school players in the area – picked up wins over Eufaula-Gray and Eufaula-Red in the round-robin style tournament. In the first game, Enterprise defeated Eufaula-Gray by a score of 8-5. Walt Spurlin pitched four and 1/3 innings and gave up three runs on the mound, while Gabe Harrington, Bowen Beckham and Jayden Jordan each had two hits.

In the second game, Enterprise knocked off Eufaula-Red by a score of 13-3 with Payton Green pitching five innings and giving up just one run. Jordan went 3-for-3 at the plate with two runs, while Cade Peacock and Harrington scored two runs each.

In the championship series, Enterprise lost to Eufaula-Gray by a score of 6-2. Jordan went 1-for-4 at the plate but also had a homerun, while Harrington went 2-for-3.

Because Enterprise went into the championship series undefeated that meant Eufaula-Gray would have to beat Enterprise again to capture the crown, but in the rematch Enterprise pounced on Eufaula-Gray by a score of 12-0.

Spurlin was the winning pitcher with a complete game shutout only giving up two hits in seven innings. Harrington and Green both went 2-for-4 with two runs, while Bowen Beckham went 2-for-4 with a run. Bowen also had a big day on the defensive end at first base with five putouts.

Enterprise will travel to Sterlington, LA on July 23 to take part in the Dixie Majors World Series. Enterprise – playing as Team Alabama – plays Florida in the opening round at 10 a.m. on July 23.
