Troy announces more non-conference football matchups

The Troy Trojans football team continues to fill out future non-conference schedules with home-and-home series as they announced a series with the University of Massachusetts (UMass) last week.

Troy and UMass will face off against one another in 2027 and 2030 with Troy travelling to UMass in 2027 and the Minutemen coming to Troy in 2030.

This agreement expands the current home-and-home series, which will see Troy travel to UMass during the 2020 series on Sept. 12.

The Trojans dominated UMass 52-31 in 2016 in the first ever showdown between the two sides.

Last week, Troy also announced the expansion of the home-and-home series with the UAB Blazers. The two sides were already scheduled to meet in 2028 and 2029, and will now also face off in 2032 and 2033.

Troy will host UAB in 2029 and 2032, while UAB hosts the game in 2028 and 2033.

Troy’s non-conference schedule in 2020 will feature home matchups against Arkansas-Pine Bluff and the ACC’s North Carolina State along with road games against UMass and the SEC’s Tennessee.

The Trojans also announced that the annual Football Kickoff Party on Aug. 15 will take place at Veteran’s Memorial Stadium this year. The event will begin at 7 p.m.

The Kickoff Party will feature a “gameday menu” for dinner and will feature music, a silent auction, live auction and a $10,000 grand prize drawing.

“This is going to be an amazing evening and a special opportunity for our fans to experience a night under the lights at The Vet,” Troy Athletic Director Brent Jones said. “The Football Kickoff Party has served as the unofficial start to the athletic season for may years, and we wanted to make sure that Trojan Nation still has the opportunity to celebrate the upcoming season while doing so in a safe environment.”
