The New Brockton Lady Gamecocks (12-13) played host to the Class 2A, Area 4 Tournament on Tuesday, Oct. 22.
New Brockton earned a first round bye due to being the No. 1 seed in the tournament, while Samson eliminated Zion Chapel in the opening round.
In the Area 4 Championship, New Brockton fell 3-0 to Samson as the Lady Tigers won all three sets 25-20, 25-19 and 25-20 in a tough matchup.
New Brockton was led by senior Mary Beth Smith 14 kills and four aces in the loss.
While the Lady Gamecocks lost in the championship game, New Brockton still advances to the Class 2A South Super Regionals in Montgomery on Oct. 25.
New Brockton will face G.W. Long at 9 a.m. on Oct. 25 at the Multiplex at Cramton Bowl. The top four finishers in the super regionals will advance to the state tournament.
