Another scholar/athlete from the Birmingham area will be playing for Enterprise State Community College this season. Rickeya Walker played for Jason Ford before deciding to become part of the Weevil Women.

“I chose ESCC because the work process seems really serious,” Walker said. “I know I will have lots of help and support. I plan to be a social worker.”

A 5-foot point guard, Walker averaged 15 points, 10 assists and two rebounds a game as a senior.

“I have a positive attitude,” Walker said. “I’m a very caring person; I love to help people in need.”

Walker earned more than 15 trophies in basketball, including several for most improved player and most valuable player.

“Sports mean teamwork to me,” Walker noted. “Sports have helped me become more confident. I’m more disciplined; and I enjoy basketball.”

Leadership and emphasis on teamwork are two traits Walker plans to bring to the Weevil Women as she begins her college experience.

“My dream is to become successful,” she said. “What I would love to say about my life before I retire is I’ve done my best and accomplished my goals.”
