An ordinance authorizing the sale of draft beer within the city limits of Enterprise was introduced during an April 15 council meeting.

The ordinance will be publicly advertised before a public hearing at the next city council meeting on May 6.

Following directly after the public hearing, the city council will then vote on the ordinance.

In other news, councilmembers approved a resolution authorizing the mayor to apply for participation in the Transportation Alternatives Program.

The program provides grants that would allow the city to continue its downtown sidewalk improvement project.

Mayor Kenneth Boswell said the portion of North Main Street being applied for would continue the sidewalk and lanterns from Adams Street northward to the Grocery Outlet.

Revamping the city's downtown sidewalks is a project the city has been working on since 2009.

Parks and Recreation Director Billy Powell also received permission for the department to shoot fireworks during the annual Children's Festival in the Park on May 3 at the Enterprise Recreational Complex.

Anyone who knows anything about beer, knows that beer tastes better from the tap. You wouldn't go to a restaurant and accept your butter beans being served in the can, why would anybody want to drink their beer that way?

I am so glad that Mr. Barry Moore and our wonderful Mayor got this done for our fine city. As stated by our Mayor the passing of this will attract wonderful opportunities for our city. It is amazing we were able to get Chick-Fil-A to come to our city and we done without draft beer. I will be amazed to see just how many wonderful things happen for our city since we now will be able to get draft beer!
