Fort Rucker Elementary honors military children during April

On April 15, Fort Rucker Elementary School teamed up with Corvias Military Housing to celebrate Purple Up Day, a day of recognition for military children. Since 1986, the Department of Defense has designated April as the month to recognize the unique lives of military children. According to Principal Vicki Gilmer, students at Fort Rucker Elementary share the common bond of being a military child and develop strong friendships with each other. Students and staff will participate in another Purple Up event on April 30, when all schools in the DoDEA school system will wear purple as a way to show support and thanks to all military children.
