The Daleville Police Department, and other law enforcement agencies, responded to a vehicle accident on Highway 84 in Dale County at approximately 9 p.m. on May 8. Upon investigation, a body was discovered near the crash with a self-inflected gunshot wound.
Daleville Police Chief Allen Medley has confirmed to The Sun that the deceased man – who has not been identified – parked his car in the road and got out before shooting himself. Another driver came upon the scene and crashed into the parked car.
Medley said that DPD received reports that a female may have been with the first driver but after a search was conducted that was believed to be untrue. Medley also said that there was never a second person with a gun or anyone “running around Daleville with a gun,” as had been rumored on social media.
