The deadline for election qualifications is Feb. 7, and Coffee County residents, especially in the western portion of the county, will have to pay close attention to who is running in the Alabama House of Representatives race.
After the redistricting of the state during the last legislative session, Coffee County was split into three districts.
One House member previously represented all of Coffee County, and was known as the 91st District.
Now, Coffee County has the representation of three districts, with the addition of the 90th and 92nd in its northwestern and southwestern regions.
Mike Jones, of Andalusia, currently represents the 92nd District. Charles Newton, of Greenville, currently represents the 90th District.
The 92nd District includes the town of Kinston and surrounding area in the southwestern portion of the county. The 90th District encompasses the northwestern portion of the county, including much of the city of Elba.
The eastern portion of the county, including the city of Enterprise, will continue to be represented by the 91st District House member, which is currently held by Barry Moore.
The change will impact approximately 2,444 Coffee County voters.
Denine Richey, of the Coffee County Board of Registrars, said letters notifying residents of any changes to their district should be delivered within the next couple of weeks.
Richey said if residents do not receive a letter, no changes to their voting would apply.
About 70 voters in Coffee County's District 1 will change voting houses from Zion Chapel to Victoria.
Richey said the change was made to make it more convenient for residents to get to the voting house.
One polling station has been moved. The 2,000 voters in County District 4, who previously voted at the IAM building, will now vote at Enterprise State Community College.
