Dale County casts its vote

Nearly 70 percent of Dale County voters made their way to the polls Nov. 6 to cast their vote for the next president of the United States.

Locally, voters chose Mitt Romney as their next president with 70.64 percent against President Barrack Obama's 28.48 percent. However, nationally, President Barack Obama was re-elected to another term.

In the 2nd Congressional District, voters chose incumbent U.S. Rep. Martha Roby, who received 70.64 percent of the vote against challenger Therese Ford's 29.36 percent. Roby maintains her seat in Congress with 65.90 percent of the vote district-wide along with the other five House incumbents, who are all republican, aside from Terri Sewell of Birmingham.

In the Chief Justice of the Supreme race, Roy Moore received 66.14 percent of the vote in Dale County against Bob Vance's 33.86 percent. Statewide, Moore received 52 percent of the vote.

For Public Service Commissioner, Dale County voters gave challenger Twinkle Andress Cavanaugh 64.70 percent of the vote against incumbent Lucy Baxley's 35.30 percent. Statewide, Cavanaugh received 54.43 percent of the vote to Baxley's 45.57 percent.
