A routine traffic stop in Daleville April 15, led to the arrest of an Ozark man and the seizure of two methamphetamine bottles, a bag of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Terry Wayne Carlton, 56, was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled substance, first-degree possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The traffic stop occurred at approximately 5:30 p.m., when Daleville patrolman David Mock saw a speeding vehicle heading westbound on Highway 134.

After stopping the vehicle at the Finway convenience store on Highway 134, police said the driver and passenger tried to switch seats, at which time Mock made contact with the suspects.

Officers performed a pat down on the driver Carlton and found a bag of marijuana in the suspect’s front pocket.

Carlton and the other four passengers were detained and law enforcement were given permission to search the vehicle.

Upon searching the vehicle, officers found two small glass bottles containing methamphetamine and several smoking devices in the truck of the vehicle.

Carlton was arrested and transported to the Dale County Jail. He was released April 14 on a $21,000 bond.
