The Enterprise Wildcats and Lady Cats wrapped up area play at home on Friday, Jan. 24, and both teams came away with dominating wins over Prattville.

The Wildcats (14-11, 2-4) forced a three-way tie in Class 7A’s Area 3 with a 76-36 win over the Lions. The win came exactly a week after losing to Prattville 56-46 on the road.

The emphatic win not only caused a three-way tie but because of the tie it forced a coin flip to decide the seeding for next month’s Area 3 Tournament, to be held by top seed R.E. Lee in Montgomery. Following the coin flip Enterprise was given the No. 3 seed behind No. 2 seed Jeff Davis and Prattville gaining the No. 4 seed. The girls tournament is also seeded the same.

Enterprise came out swinging against Prattville taking a 21-10 lead into the second quarter and ultimately a 35-20 lead at halftime before utterly dominating the Lions in the second half and outscoring them 41-16.

The 40-point win was the Wildcats’ largest margin of victory all season.

Enterprise was led by senior Dallas Howell’s 21 points, while junior Damarion Holt added 12 points and sophomore Quentin Hayes chipped in with 11 points. Junior Josh McCray also scored eight points.

The Lady Cats (8-17, 3-3) were also in no mood to let the Lady Lions hang around as they too earned a dominant 53-20 win to wrap up the No. 3 seed in Area 3.

Harmony Baker led Enterprise with 18 points in the win, while Lay Lay McClain added 16 points.

With area play in the regular season done, both the Wildcats and Lady Cats will turn their attention to home games to close out the regular season. The Wildcats will host Barbour County on Jan. 30 and Greenville on Jan. 31, while the Lady Cats will host Barbour County on Jan. 30 to finish up the regular season.

The area tournament for the boys will begin play on Feb. 4 with Enterprise playing Jeff Davis at R.E. Lee High School at 7 p.m. following Lee matched up with Prattville at 5:30 p.m. The winner of those games will meet on Feb. 7 at 7 p.m.

The Lady Cats will face Jeff Davis at 7 p.m. on Feb. 5 at R.E. Lee High School following a 5:30 p.m. game between Lee and Prattville. The two winning sides will meet on Feb. 7 at 5:30 p.m.
