A Montgomery man was arrested in Daleville for first-degree theft of property May 20, after he allegedly stole his girlfriend’s mother’s vehicle without permission.

According to Daleville police investigator Sgt. Stacey Austin, around 10:30 a.m. David Conner, 21, allegedly stole the victim’s vehicle from the parking lot of HNS Resources on Highway 134 in Daleville.

As the victim was calling 911, she observed the vehicle going eastbound toward the intersection of Highway 134 and Highway 85.

According to Austin, Daleville patrol officer Timothy Lyles observed the stolen vehicle heading westbound on Highway 84 toward Level Plains and performed the traffic stop.

The car was returned to its original owner and Conner was arrested and booked into the Dale County Jail for first-degree theft of property. His bond was set at $20,000.

According to police, Conner may have more charges pending.

In other crime, Christopher Lindley, 21, of Enterprise was arrested for promoting prison contraband.

On May 19, at approximately 7:52 p.m. Lindley brought in sudafedrin and ice cold packs inside the Daleville City Jail and provided it to a trustee.

Lindley was arrested and booked into the Dale County Jail. He was released on a $5,000 bond on May 19.
