Following a preliminary hearing July 24, Dale County District Judge W. Stan Garner said Lt. Col. Christopher D. Wood will face a grand jury for two felony child solicitation charges.
Daleville police investigators arrested Wood, 44, July 3 and charged him with electronic solicitation of a child and traveling to meet a child for an illegal sex act.
Wood was reported to be exchanging sex-related text messages with whom he believed was a 15-year-old girl in an undercover operation conducted by Daleville police.
Wood allegedly agreed to meet the minor at a pre-arranged location in Clayhatchee, and was arrested upon his arrival.
Wood was released from the Dale County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
During the hearing, Wood’s attorney, Stephen Etheridge, said Wood has been reassigned to Fort Rucker from Maxwell Air Force Base for the duration of the case, and is currently residing on the installation.
If convicted, Wood faces two to 20 years in prison for the class B felony.
