Christopher D. Wood

A man who identified himself as a lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army is behind bars after Daleville police arrested him on child solicitation charges.

According to a release from the Daleville Department of Public Safety, investigators arrested Christopher D. Wood, 44, July 3 and charged him with the electronic solicitation of a child and traveling to meet a child for an illegal sex act.

Wood stated he is an active duty lieutenant colonel in the U. S. Army on military leave, but is not assigned to Fort Rucker, the release said.

Wood was reported to be exchanging sex-related text messages with whom he believed was a 15-year-old girl, in which Wood detailed the sexual acts he wished to perform on her.

The 15-year-old girl was actually an undercover Daleville police investigator.

Wood allegedly agreed to meet the minor at a pre-arranged location in Clayhatchee, and was arrested upon his arrival.

Wood is being held in the Dale County Jail pending his first appearance hearing.

According to the release, the case is still under investigation.
