Two Daleville Department of Public Safety Emergency Medical Service officers are being commended for saving a man’s life Sunday morning.
Zach Smith and Kevin Killens are being recognized for their bravery and outstanding actions in the early morning on May 16, said Daleville Department of Public Safety Director Chief Allen Medley.
Medley said that about 6 a.m. as the two men were returning from a Daleville EMS ambulance run, they saw a travel trailer on fire on County Road 109.
As they got nearer to the engulfed trailer, they heard calls for help, Medley said. They were able to rescue a man from the burning trailer and transport him to a Dothan hospital. The man was later airlifted to another hospital but is in stable condition.
Medley said that Smith and Killens will be recognized and thanked at the Daleville City Council meeting May 18.
