Mask wearing for all indoor school activities was a decision made by the Daleville Board of Education at the meeting Aug. 10.
The decision was made due to the increase of COVID-19 in the area in accordance with the recommended guidelines by the ADPH and the Centers for Disease Control. “The decision be will be reviewed when, or if, the Alabama Department of Public Health drops the level of concern for our county,” said Daleville City Schools Superintendent Dr. Lisa Stamps.
With Daleville City Schools set to open the new school year Aug. 24, Stamps said the school board and administration have the health and safety of each student and staff members as a priority. “In making an attempt to keep people safe, the board approved the decision to required students and staff to wear masks for all indoor school activities until further notice,” Stamps said.
“We are especially concerned about students who are under the age to be able to get a vaccination,” she added. “We have to make decisions that will help mitigate the virus and make every effort to keep our students and staff safe and healthy as we instruct them.”
