Dale man arrested for sex abuse of minors

Joseph Edward Cross

A Dale County man has been charged with sexual abuse and rape of more than one minor.

Joseph Edward Cross, 32, of Skipperville is in Dale County Jail charged with two counts of first-degree rape and two counts of sexual abuse of a child less than 12 years old.

Dale County Sheriff Department Chief Deputy Mason Bynum said that on Feb. 11 the DCSO received a complaint of sexual abuse involving minors. “Investigators worked quickly and identified the suspect and began the process of locating him,” Bynum said. “Based on our preliminary findings, the abuse had occurred over several years and we anticipate additional charges to be filed in the future.”

Bynum said that due to the sensitive nature of the investigation no additional information will be released at this time.
