Ten volunteer positions on four city of Daleville advisory boards are now available.
The Daleville is currently seeking citizens volunteers to serve on the Board of Adjustments, the Industrial Development Board, the Tree Board and the Redevelopment Authority.
The Zoning Board of Adjustments is comprised of five members and two supernumerary members. The appointments are for three years. The purpose of the Zoning Board includes hearing appeals related to municipal zoning regulations and granting variances. One board member and both supernumerary seats on the Daleville Zoning Board of Adjustments currently need to be filled.
The Industrial Development Board is comprised of not less than seven members, serving staggered six year terms. The board members must be qualified voters and taxpayers of Daleville. The purpose of the board is to construct buildings for lease to new industries. The Daleville Industrial Development Board is seeking five members.
The City Tree Board is comprised of five members serving three year terms each. Members must be citizens—native or naturalized—and residents of Daleville. The board is responsible for trees and shrubs in parks, along streets and in other public areas in the city. The Daleville City Tree Board has two vacant seats.
The Redevelopment Authority is comprised of at least three members serving staggered six year terms. Board members must be qualified voters in Daleville. The board’s focus is to revitalize and redevelop the central business district of the city. The Daleville Redevelopment Authority is seeking two members.
Other city volunteer advisory boards are the Water Works and Sewer Board, the Daleville Planning Commission, the City of Daleville Housing Authority Board, Board of Education, the Library Board, the Personnel Board and the Medical Clinic Board.
The Water Works and Sewer Board is comprised of five members, of which three may be elected officials, serving staggered six year terms. The purpose of the board is to operate the city water and sewer system.
The Daleville Planning Commission is a nine-member board comprised of the mayor, a city official chosen by the mayor, a city council member and six members chosen by the mayor. The purpose of the planning commission is to provide planning, zoning and subdivision controls for the city.
The Housing Authority of Daleville board is comprised of five members appointed by the mayor serving staggered five-year terms. The purpose of the board is to deal with municipal housing issues.
The City Board of Education is comprised of five members serving staggered five year terms. Elected officials may not be members of this board and members must be Daleville residents. The purpose of the board is to operate the public schools in Daleville.
The Library Board is comprised of five members serving staggered four year terms. The purpose of the board is to operate the public library.
The Personnel Board is comprised of three members serving staggered three year terms. Members must be qualified voters in Daleville and have lived in Daleville for at least four years immediately prior to their appointment. Members may not be employed by or hold an elected or appointed office in the city. The purpose of the Personnel Board is to inquire into the administration of the personnel system and, on the basis of the inquiry, make written recommendations regarding the system to the governing body.
The Medical Board is comprised of three members serving staggered six year terms. The purpose of the Daleville Medical Board is to construct and administer medical clinics and facilities for the housing and care of the elderly.
