The Enterprise State Community College Boll Weevils and Lady Boll Weevils hit the road last week for a pair of tough away games.

The Boll Weevils started off the week with an 86-81 loss to Southern Union on Nov. 12.

After heading into halftime with a 36-25 lead, the Boll Weevils were outscored 61-45 in the second half as they watched the game slip away.

ESCC was led by Ryan Sanders with 18 points and three rebounds, while Jalen Smith came off the bench with 17 points and three assists.

Josh Graham also chipped in with 12 points, six rebounds and two steals, while former Enterprise High star Ja’Juan Hayes scored six points with two rebounds, one assist and one steal. Mykil Wilson also had 11 points and three rebounds in the loss.

ESCC bounced back, however, with a resounding 67-57 win over Albany Tech on Nov. 13.

After holding a slim 27-24 halfitme lead, ESCC exploded in the second half and outscored Albany Tech 40-33 in the final half to secure the win.

Graham led ESCC this time around with 16 points, four rebounds and two assists, while Smith had 13 points and eight rebounds. Hayes chipped in with seven points and three rebounds, while Sanders had 11 points.

The Lady Boll Weevils (0-3) struggled to get going against Southern Union and ultimately dropped the game 76-64.

ESCC trailed 18-10 in the first quarter and ultimately went into halftime down 35-25. Southern Union extended its lead to 56-39 heading into the final period. ESCC was able to outscore Southern Union 25-20 in the final period but it wasn’t enough as Southern Union held on to the win.

Savannah Carty led the Lady Boll Weevils with 16 points, four rebounds, two assists and two steals. Former EHS star Gwen Mitchell also filled up the stat sheet with 15 points, two blocks, two steals, two assists and six rebounds.

Jesslyn Culverhouse contributed 13 points and a team-high nine rebounds.

On Nov. 13, the Lady Boll Weevils were defeated by Albany Tech 80-64 as Albany Tech dominated much of the game and outscored ESCC in all four quarters.

Mitchell led ESCC with a career-high 19 points along with two steals and four rebounds. Culverhouse scored nine points and brought down six rebounds with two assists.
