Public Notice is hereby given that the City Council of the City of Enterprise, Alabama at a regular meeting held on May 21, 2019 duly passed and adopted Resolution 05-21-19. The resolution in its entirety is as set out below.

CALLING FOR AND SETTING A SPECIAL ELECTION/REFERENDUM
REGARDING SUNDAY SALES OF ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES
IN THE CITY OF ENTERPRISE, ALABAMA
BE IT RESOLVED AND ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ENTERPRISE AS FOLLOWS:
WHEREAS, ACT NO. 2019-160 was passed by the Alabama State House and Alabama State Senate and approved by the Governor of the State of Alabama on May 14, 2019, authorizing the City of Enterprise to hold a referendum on whether the City Council should be granted authority to approve the sale of alcoholic beverages on Sundays for on-premises and off-premises consumption in the corporate limits of the City;
WHEREAS, pursuant to said ACT NO. 2019-160, the City Council desires to call for and set a special election/referendum for the purposes stated above and below;
NOW, THEREFORE, it is hereby Resolved and Ordained by the City Council of the City of Enterprise, Alabama as follows:
1.A special election/referendum shall be held on Tuesday, August 13, 2019, for the purpose of whether the duly qualified and registered voters of the City of Enterprise will grant authority to the City Council of the City of Enterprise, Alabama to provide for the sale of alcoholic beverages on Sundays for on-premises and off-premises consumption in the corporate limits of the City of Enterprise, Alabama. All registered and qualified electors of the State, who reside within the corporate limits of Enterprise, Alabama, and have resided therein for 30 days or more immediately preceding the date of the election, and who are qualified to vote in the County precinct which embraces and covers that part of the corporate limits of the City of Enterprise in which the elector resides, will be authorized to participate in the election.
2.The question on the referendum ballot shall be substantially in the form stated as follows:
“Do you approve granting authority to the City Council of the City of Enterprise, Alabama to provide for the sale of alcoholic beverages on Sundays for on-premises and off-premises consumption? Yes________ No ___________”
3.The polls will be open 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Enterprise Recreation Center (M.N. Jug Brown Building) located on East Lee Street and along Swenson Street, Enterprise, Alabama.
4.The Mayor is authorized to cause publication of a notice of special election for the purposes described above and in accordance with the law.
5.The City Clerk and City staff are authorized to take steps to obtain election necessities, including, but not necessarily limited to, the procurement of absentee ballots and voter lists, and to do those things necessary to prepare for the referendum, all in accordance with the law.
