Kaki Holcek, a certified YMCA instructor/lifeguard, has been awarded the $500 Cooper Scholarship, given by Bob and Ditte Cooper. Ditte Cooper touched many lives in the 1980s and 1990s at the Enterprise YMCA and the Enterprise and Elba Recreation Centers teaching children and training young adults in lifeguard courses. Ditte Cooper was an Olympic hopeful but hurt her ankle during the training process. Holcek took waterbabies from 2001-2002, swimming lessons in 2014 and came back to teach in 2019 and 2020. Currently attending Auburn University to study Communication Disorders with a concentration in Communications and Foreign Languages, Holcek was enrolled in five classes while teaching and lifeguarding this summer.
