Peanuts and Politics

The Enterprise Chamber of Commerce Government Relations Council is taking its signature Peanuts and Politics event to the web. On Tuesday, Aug. 11, Peanuts and Politics will be recorded in a virtual format and shared through the Chamber’s digital media outlets.

“In a recent meeting held by members of the Peanuts and Politics subcommittee, hosting options were carefully discussed. In light of these unprecedented circumstances, the team concluded that keeping everyone safe is of the utmost importance,” said Enterprise Chamber Executive Director Erin Grantham.

Traditionally, Peanuts and Politics, hosted by the Enterprise Chamber, offers an opportunity to acquaint voters with qualified candidates running for elected offices in the upcoming municipal election at an open public forum at a local restaurant.

“Due to the CDC health guidelines to promote social distancing, and continued State Mandated Mask Order, this seemed to be the safest way for us to provide the same opportunity for the candidates, as well as the constituents,” Grantham said.

All candidates running for Mayor, as well as those running for City Council facing opposition, have been invited to participate. The virtual Peanuts and Politics event will be split into four segments: Mayoral, District 1, District 2 and District 3 interviews. Each segment will provide candidates five minutes to introduce themselves and answer questions from the Chamber’s moderator.

Questions will be composed by the Peanuts and Politics Committee; each will be respectful and related to the position. The interviews will be recorded and uploaded to the Chamber’s YouTube and shared to Facebook for public viewing.
