Hurricane Michael is about 11 mph short of becoming a Category 5 hurricane, according to a release from Coffee County Emergency Management Agency Director James Brown.
Michael is a Category 4 has with sustained winds about 145 mph.
Coffee County is expected to experience 20-30 mph sustained wind gusts with the potential for wind gusts up to 60-85 mph.
The strong winds are expected to start about 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today.
The expected rainfall is 1 to 5 inches of rain.
The biggest impact for the area is expected to be downed trees and branches, power outages and some roof damages, according to the release.
The weather conditions are expected to end about 2 a.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday morning.
Coffee County is currently under a tropical storm warning but was removed from the hurricane watch. However, Dale County was added to the hurricane watch.
The CC EMA wanted to remind residents that it has put up a last resort shelter, which is now open, at Enterprise High School.
