Enterprise High School has helped raise more than $2,500 for Murphy High School, which was directly hit by a tornado Dec. 25, 2012.
Built in the 1920s, the historic school suffered substantial damage to its athletic facilities, windows, roofing and portable classrooms.
“We have collected money from several student organizations, teams and clubs,” said EHS principal Matt Rodgers.
Money was also taken up during Enterprise’s Jan. 8 game against Northview High School.
"We were deeply saddened to hear about the destruction caused by the tornado at Murphy High School,” Rodgers said. “Our students and teachers immediately wanted to help.”
Enterprise students know all to well the damage a tornado can leave behind both physically and emotionally.
It has been almost six years since a EF-4 tornado stuck Enterprise High School on March 1, 2007.
“I am very proud of our student body for their willingness to give back to those that helped EHS during our time of need,” Rodgers said. “We hope this money will help in the rebuilding process."
