Christmas Day in Alabama came with an onslaught of severe weather as a strong cold front associated with Winter Storm Euclid passed through the state.
Tornado sirens in Coffee County were activated four times as tornado warnings were issued by the National Weather Service in Tallahassee.
According to Coffee County Emergency Management Agency Director Larry Walker, two tornadoes touched down in Coffee County.
One touched down at about 4:30 p.m. in a wooded, unpopulated area in the western portion of the county near the Basin Community.
Walker said the only damage associated with the tornado was downed trees.
The second tornado occurred at about 9 p.m. and went across Highway 134 near the intersection of County Road 523 near Wooten Chapel.
Walker said damage included downed trees and power lines and damage to a building behind a local nursery, however no home damage occurred.
Power outages were also reported in the Damascus community but power was restored quickly afterward.
Walker said the county "dodged a bullet" with the amount of severe weather that was present with this storm system.
More than two dozen tornadoes swept across the South. A large wedge tornado struck Mobile causing significant damage to Murphy High School, churches and several homes.
A freeze warning remains in effect for Coffee County until 7 a.m., Dec. 27, as temperatures are expected to dip down to 29 to 31 degrees.
