Almost $180,000 was raised during the 27th Annual Coffee County Relay for Life event held at the old Ryan’s restaurant in Enterprise on Saturday, May 18, beating the goal of $163,000.

This year's theme was “Takin’ it to the Streets.” Businesses, churches and other organizations around the county took part in the fundraising event. Wayne Farms received the Spirit of Relay 2019 award.

This year, carnival rides and games were available for visitors of all ages to enjoy. A car show was also held for those who enjoy a nice set of wheels, and live music was provided.

Survivors were recognized during the fundraising event before walking a lap held in their honor, and those who have lost their battle with cancer were also remembered with luminaries and torches.

The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life events are held throughout the United States every year to not only raise funds for cancer research and help those affected by cancer, but also to honor those who have survived their cancer fight and those who have lost the battle.
