COVID 19

Both Enterprise City Schools and Coffee County Schools have recently provided updates to COVID-19 positive cases inside the school systems.

According to Enterprise Superintendent Greg Faught, ECS now has 40 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the school’s student body with 24 confirmed cases among staff members since Aug. 6. Student positive cases have risen from 31 cases on Oct. 20 to 40 as of Oct. 27.

As of Oct. 21, Coffee County Schools has reported 35 total cases in the school system. Coffee County Schools saw two new cases in high school students at Zion Chapel and one faculty member at Kinston between Oct. 14 and Oct. 21.

“The number of cases of COVID-19 in Coffee County has risen drastically in the last two weeks,” Coffee County Schools Superintendent Kevin Killingsworth said in a statement. “We are now considered at high risk because of this increase. Our main goal is to keep students, employees and visitors as safe as possible while on our campuses.

“My hope is for our schools to remain open and our students participate in extracurricular activities. The mask order is not a popular one but it does help in the spread of COVID-19. For the sake of our kids and employees, I’m requesting that everyone comply while on our campuses and attending extracurricular activities.”

Killingsworth said that everyone that visits school campuses at Kinston, Zion Chapel and New Brockton for basketball games in the coming months will be required to wear facial coverings while attending games. Those that don’t comply will be not be allowed to return to campus to watch games.

“It is a very small request if we truly want to support our children and teams,” Killingsworth said.
