“October 21-25 was bus safety week and we want our drivers to know they are appreciated for taking care of our students each day,” said Dr. Lisa Stamps, Daleville City Schools superintendent.

The Daleville Central Office staff met Friday morning, Oct. 25, to show their appreciation to the system’s bus drivers. The bus drivers were greeted by the central office staff and provided breakfast. Stamps spoke to the drivers and thanked them for being concerned about the safety of students and for their service to the system.

“Bus drivers play an important role in education.  I am very grateful that you offer a smile and encouraging words to our students as they step on the bus,” said Stamps. “This sets a positive tone for their day. It helps them realize they have someone who cares about them to start and end their day on the bus ride to and from school.”

Ted Folsom, DCS transportation director, said, “I would like to thank the bus drivers and transportation staff for all they do for our students. The bus drivers are for many of our students the first school employee they see and our drivers are professionals who treat students with respect and dignity. Our bus mechanic does an outstanding job of keeping the bus on the road and not in the shop. Our secretary makes sure all paperwork and reports are turned in correctly and on time.

“For the past four years, Daleville City Schools Transportation Program has received a Certificate of Achievement from the Alabama Department of Education. Thanks again to our staff for our success as a transportation program. Thanks to Dr. Stamps and the central office staff for supporting the transportation department,” Folsom said.
