Former Enterprise all-state football player Chance Warren was awarded with the Naval Academy’s 2018 Collins/Roos Class of 1949 Junior Varsity MVP Award last week.
The award is given annually to the most valuable player on Navy’s JV/scout team, chosen by a vote from the team.
“It was truly an honor, one of my more cherish-able awards,” Warren said. “I can’t thank those guys enough for noticing the hard work and effort I put in on a day-to-day basis.”
Warren redshirted during his freshman season at Navy in 2018 but did earn a chance to dress out for Navy’s game against Memphis in September after earning the scout team’s player of the week.
“Obviously the season didn’t go as well as we would have liked it to but it allowed for many of us to grow and understand what it’s going to take to be a dominant force,” Warren said. “Freshman season for me was definitely a year for growth both mentally and physically. I enjoyed it but I came here to win and that’s what we are all focused on heading into the 2019 season.”
Warren, an Elite 11 and ASWA All-State receiver at Enterprise, is currently playing the slot back position in Navy’s triple option offense and will have four more years of eligibility moving forward after redshirting in 2018.
“I can’t thank the Enterprise (football) program enough for developing me into the player that I am today,” Warren said.
Warren said that he has a simple goal set for next season.
“Adapt and overcome,” Warren flatly said. “That is the mindset I’ll carry into every practice, workout and game. I believe being able to understand that you will face challenges throughout every endeavor in life allows you to be more prepared to tackle that obstacle when you encounter it. Go Navy, beat Army!”
