After a year away, Brittany Lee is back home.

The 2016 New Brockton High School graduate, who left to continue her softball career at Gulf Coast State College in Panama City Florida, after her high school days were done, has transferred into the Enterprise State Community College program.

"I'm super excited about it, Lee said. "That's one of the reasons I chose to come back. I wanted to be back at home. I'm just excited to be back."

After a standout high school career on the Enterprise and New Brockton softball diamonds, Lee helped the GCSC Commodores to the state tournament.

She struck out 39 batters in 32 appearances. Lee hit .215 with three doubles and a home run, but didn't feel Panama City was the best place to continue her career.

"I just didn't think Gulf Coast was the right fit for me," she said. "I just really wanted to be back at home."

It turned out Enterprise State was looking for a player like Lee.

"We are very excited to land Brittany into our program," ESCC softball coach Traci Harrison said. "We've been looking for that stud pitcher for the past couple of months, and only had one scholarship left so we've been holding out for a while. We happened to have found Brittany, and it looks like she was definitely the piece we were trying to fit on the pitching staff."

ESCC's program is in the midst of changes, and Lee believes the school is the right fit for her as well.

"We have a new coach I really like," she said. "They're supposed to be getting new facilities, and everything is supposed to be changing. I'm really excited about that."

The sophomore will only add to a pitching staff ESCC's coach believes will be strong.

"Brittany's coming in with about four or five other pitchers," Harrison said. "I think we're probably going to have one of the strongest pitching staffs in our conference this coming season. Having Brittany is just going to make our program so much better in competition...Everything every coach would want in a pitcher, we definitely got with Brittany."

The transfer means Enterprise State found another piece of its pitching staff and Lee can continue her softball career in a place which feels like home.

"I definitely look forward to building the program up and leaving a legacy," she said.
