Grave of Dale County native Private Malcolm Cook

A white cross in the Oise-Aisne American Cemetery in Fere-en-Tardenois, France, marks the grave of Dale County native Private Malcolm Cook, who died in World War I July 27, 1918. Cook is one of 6,012 American war dead aligned in long rows on the 36.5-acre site. The cross is flanked by an American and a French flag and the artwork created by his great niece Helen Taylor Andrews 100 years later as the cover of a book written to honor the Gold Star soldiers from Dale County.
