Christmas at the Farmers Market Dec. 8

You won’t want to miss “Christmas at the Farmers Market” this Saturday, rain or shine ... or cloudy. Our great farming vendors will be on hand with seasonal produce, along with some wonderful crafters and bakers.Children and their parents will enjoy decorating ornaments and hearing a musical drama by the Refuge Church “Squad” students.

A very special guest and his wife will also be there with their red suits on and laps just waiting for little ones to sit on and tell their Christmas wishes.The fun starts at 7 a.m. for those wishing to get first dibs on fresh produce and baked goods. The ornament painting activities will be from 8 a.m. to noon.

Even if it rains, most of the activities are inside or under the pavilion, so we’ll stay dry.

 

Young Eagles date change

The date for Young Eagle free airplane rides in Ozark has changed due to bad weather. The new date is now Saturday, Dec 8. Free flights are offered to youngsters 8 to 17 years old from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Ozark-Blackwell Field Airport terminal building. CCCD monthly board meeting set for Dec. 10

The Coffee County Conservation District will be holding its monthly board meeting on Monday, Dec. 10,  at 6 p.m. at 214 Factory Avenue N., in Elba.

 

Bell ringers needed

The Dale County Salvation Army, which serves Coffee and Dale Counties, is seeking volunteer bell ringers for the 2018 Salvation Army Red Kettle fundraising campaign. Those able to volunteer to “ring the bell” in either Enterprise or Ozark are asked to call Laura at (334) 445-3070 or (334) 369-9491.

ALEA to add digit to new driver’s licenses

The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency soon will add a digit to driver’s license numbers to accommodate the state’s growing population. Effective Dec. 1, all new driver’s licenses and non-driver IDs will contain eight-digit numbers. The longer numbers already have been used on state-issued non-driver IDs.

The change will not affect Alabama driver license holders who were issued seven-digit numbers. For questions concerning this change, please call (334) 242-4400. 

 

DAV Chapter helps veterans with claims

DAV Chapter 9 Enterprise-Coffee County,704 Crawford Street, Enterprise, helps veterans with claims Monday-Thursday from 9 to 11 a.m. and other times by appointment.  Call (334) 308-2480 for more information or to leave a message.

 

DAV service office open

Each Tuesday and Wednesday, except on national holidays, from 9 to 11 a.m., DAV Chapter #99 maintains a service office in the New Brockton Town Hall (Old Armory building) located at 706 McKinnon Street. This office will assist veterans who were injured or disabled while in military service. DAV service officers help veterans and their spouses with disability compensation claims, VA pension, death benefits, VA medical care, Socials Security disability benefits, veterans’ job programs, homeless veterans assistance at no charge.
