Fort Rucker announces death of instructor pilot

Fort Rucker officials are saddened to announce the death of CW4 Phillip Edward Baker, 55.

Baker served as a CH-47 instructor pilot here at Knox Army Heliport.

Medical assistance was called Monday to aid Baker while at Knox Army Heliport. Baker was transported to an area medical center where he subsequently passed away.

Baker entered the military in 1983, and retired from active duty in June 2006 from B Company, 1st Battalion, 223rd Aviation Regiment. He returned to active duty in November 2010 with B Co., 1-223rd.

A memorial service will be held here Friday at 1 p.m. at the Main Post Chapel.
