Two Enterprise residents were arrested Saturday for the attempted murder of an Alabama State Trooper.
At about 5:30 p.m., April 19, an Alabama State Trooper attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Geneva County Road 57.
After a brief pursuit, the suspect vehicle stopped abruptly and the suspect opened fire on the trooper and shot him.
The suspect was taken into custody at the scene. A second suspect fled into the woods, but he was captured a short time later.
The trooper was transported to Flowers Hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries and released.
The suspects, Zachary Taylor Wood, 23, of Glenwood, formerly of Enterprise, and Dillon Scott Rafsky, 23, of Enterprise, were also transported to the hospital for treatment of gunshot wounds.
Upon release from the hospital, they were transported to the Geneva County Jail under charges for attempted murder.
The Alabama Bureau of Investigation is investigating the incident and no further information is available at this time.
The Alabama Department of Public Safety thanks all law enforcement agencies involved for their assistance.
About three weeks ago, on April 3, Wood was a passenger involved in another pursuit involving Coffee County Sheriff's deputies.
Coffee County investigators attempted to stop a white Chevrolet HHR before the vehicle fled onto Lee Street and turned onto Alberta Street in Enterprise.
The pursuit ended in the 900 block of Alberta Street, and after a search of the vehicle investigators found a firearm, approximately one ounce of marijuana, $2,200 in cash and drug paraphernalia.
Kevin Phillip Martin, 28, of Daleville, was charged with first-degree possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, carrying a pistol without a permit, attempting to elude and failure to appear on a traffic warrant.
Wood was arrested on a warrant for felony probation violation.
In that arrest, Coffee County Jail records have his address listed in Enterprise.
He was let out of the Coffee County Jail on April 4 for the probation violation on a $1,000 signature bond.
