The Enterprise mayor's office confirmed Monday afternoon that city employee Ernest Davis died after falling into a manhole that was about 10-feet deep.
According to the city, Davis collapsed at about 11:20 a.m., Aug. 20, while exiting a manhole near the Enterprise debris grinding site off of East Drive.
Enterprise Rescue Squad and Enterprise Fire Department responded to the incident around 11:30 a.m., but in spite of the efforts Davis died at the scene.
An Enterprise fire fighter who was involved in the response to the call was treated at Medical Center Enterprise for over-exertion and released.
The city of Enterprise extended its deepest sympathy to Davis’ family.
