Enterprise High School recently named Lisa Turner as Educator of the Year.
A tradition since 2003, former Educators of the Year select a recipient at the beginning of each school year for outstanding work the previous year.
Turner is a member of the Enterprise High School Class of 1987, and has taught history for 15 years.
For 10 of those years, Turner has worked as a cheerleading coach at the junior high and high school level.
She received her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Auburn and a master’s degree in secondary education from Troy University’s Dothan campus.
Turner and her husband Kip have two children, Dawn, a senior at Enterprise High School; and Frankie, a freshman at Dauphin Junior High School.
Turner and her family attend Lee Street Baptist Church, where she serves as Sunday school director and chair of the flower committee.
“She’s an outstanding teacher and cheerleading sponsor,” said EHS principal Matt Rodgers.
He added Turner often travels with the National FFA Organization as a chaperone because of her daughter’s involvement with the organization.
“She does a great job in and out of the classroom,” Rodgers said. “She’s a team player and an example for other teachers.”
