Gilley, Spicer, Massey hearings underway

Ronnie Gilley admitted more than a year ago his role in what federal prosecutor's call a bribery conspiracy involving seven different Alabama legislators. Gilley, former state representative Terry Spicer and lobbyist Jarrod Massey are expected to receive sentence sometime this afternoon.

Sentencing hearings for Ronnie Gilley, former state representative Terry Spicer and lobbyist Jarrod Massey got underway around 10 a.m. this morning.

Spicer’s was the first case to be heard and his camp called three witnesses to the stand.

Gilley’s hearing will resume at 1 p.m. following a break for lunch.

Gilley’s camp has already called four character witnesses to the stand and has three more scheduled once hearings resume.

Massey’s hearing will be the last of three.

All three men are expected to be sentenced by this afternoon.
