One administrator is leaving Enterprise High School while another is returning after a year away following a vote by the Enterprise City Schools Board of Education on Tuesday, June 29.

Danny Long is moving from his position as assistant principal at EHS to the director of secondary education with ECS. Brent Harrison will return to EHS as an assistant principal and the director of curriculum and instruction at the school.

Long, according to his biography on the EHS website, was a teacher at EHS before becoming assistant principal.

"I would like to thank Dr. Wright and the Enterprise City School Board for the opportunity to serve as the new Director of Secondary Instruction," Long said. "This school system has meant so much to me over the last 11 years and I am extremely proud and excited to have this opportunity. It has been a privilege to work along side a tremendous administrative team and some of the best teachers in the state of Alabama at Enterprise High School.

"I can't thank Mr. (Matt) Rodgers enough for adding me to his team five years ago, but most of all for sharing his passion for Enterprise High School and this community. I look forward to continuing the work we have started at EHS and developing new relationships with Dr. Wright's team and other administrators in the system."

Rodgers, EHS principal, said he was proud of the work Long has done at EHS and will do in the school system.

"I am proud of Danny and excited about his leadership in the future at the district level," Rodgers said. "Danny has meant a lot to the EHS faculty, staff and student body. He is a good man and strong leader who cares about our students and teachers. He brings a wealth of knowledge and has a common sense approach to teaching and learning. Danny has a passion for learning and a work ethic that is unmatched.

"While we are going to miss him at EHS, it is reassuring and exciting to know that he can now have an enormous impact on all of the students in our district. I can't thank him enough for his unwavering support. He is one of the finest educators in the state, and we are fortunate to have him in Enterprise."

Harrison left EHS at the end of the 2014-15 school year to become the principal of Charles Henderson High School in Troy.

“First and foremost, I want to thank Mr. Matt Rodgers, Dr. Camille Wright, and the Enterprise City Board of Education for allowing me to return home to Enterprise High School," Harrison said. "I am extremely fortunate to have worked for an outstanding superintendent in Dr. Lee Hicks and the extremely supportive Troy City Board of Education. However, my desire to return back to the students and staff of Enterprise High School was too great.

"Over the past year, I believe I have made great strides and grown professionally in the world of education which I believe makes it possible to come back and try to replace a person like Danny Long as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction at Enterprise High School. Enterprise has been and will always be my home. From a career and family standpoint, there is no better place to live or work. I consider myself to be blessed beyond measure to be able to come back to such a great school system and community. I look forward to re-establishing relationships and connections with the faculty and staff as well as the students of Enterprise High School."

Rodgers said he was happy to have Harrison back as a member of the EHS faculty.

"We are excited to welcome Mr. Harrison back to Enterprise High School," Rodgers said. "Brent did an excellent job for us during his previous tenure. He is respected by not only our teachers but also our students and community members. We feel very fortunate that Brent is rejoining the Wildcat Family.

"I am excited about his new role as Assistant Principal/Director of Curriculum and Instruction for EHS. There is no doubt that Brent has a great love for Enterprise High School and will continue to give his all to provide a first class education for our students. He is a winner and a Wildcat. We are excited to have him back."

Why are the Enterprise Board of Education meetings not being streamed live on the internet? The Enterprise City Council finally decided to broadcast theirs after much pressure. Why hasn’t the school system? How about a little transparency here from the superintendent and school board!
