The Enterprise Police Department has arrested one individual for theft of funds.
On April 26, the EPD arrested and charged Elizabeth Sutherland, 38, of Enterprise, with first-degree theft by deception, according to Public Information Officer Capt. Michael Moore.
Moore said the charges stem from an investigation into internal theft of the organization known as Recovery Organization of Coffee County (ROCC). A total of $61,540 was stolen from the organization over a period of four months, according to Moore.
She is currently being held at the Coffee County Jail. No bond has been set at this time.
The investigation, led by the EPD's Department of Criminal Investigations (CID) is still ongoing.
Larry Walker, director of the county's emergency management agency said in a release, "The Recovery Organization of Coffee County (ROCC) is aware of the situation regarding the theft of the organization’s funds. This is still an ongoing investigation by the Enterprise Police Department. Therefore, there will be no further comments on the specifics of the investigation at this time. Should there be any questions about the investigation, please contact the Enterprise Police Department.
"We are evaluating the potential impacts of this theft on our current planned projects and will be contacting individuals involved to review our options and future plans."
