Enterprise man struck and killed by train in Montgomery

An Enterprise man was killed after being struck by a train in Montgomery in the pre-dawn hours Sunday.

Finnian McCarty, 22, of Enterprise, was killed when he was struck by an oncoming CSX train behind the 400 Block of of Molton Street.

Emergency responders were called to the scene at about 3:48 a.m.

According to those operating the train, a lone man was on the tracks and made no effort to move.

Railroad operators attempted to stop the train, but were unable to bring the train to a halt before hitting McCarty.

The detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division were called to investigate the scene, and the incident remains under investigation.

At this time, CID investigators are considering the incident to be alcohol related.

McCarty's body was transported to the Alabama Department of Forensics for an autopsy.
