Several appointments to municipal boards were approved at the Enterprise City Council meeting held Wednesday, July 5.
The noontime council meeting was held a day later than the usual meeting date due to the Independence Day holiday.
Larry Milliner was appointed to a four year term on the Incubator Advisory Board to fill the expired term of Jimmy Jones.
Robbin Thompson and Billy Cotter were re-appointed to six-year terms on the Industrial Development Board.
Maggie Haas and Irene Johnson were appointed to four-year terms on the Enterprise Library Board, filling the expired terms of Milton Trawick and Ester Moore, respectively.
Marcella Cardona, Kristen Anton and Frank Page were appointed to South Central Alabama Mental Health Board to replace Judge Steve Blair, Jean Donahue and Chad Meeks. Cardona’s term will expire April 1, 2019; Anton’s term will expire April 1, 2021; and Page’s term will expire April 1, 2023.
Sue Neuwien will fill a three-year supernumerary position on the Zoning Board of Adjustment.
In other business, the council heard a request from Andrew Windham, chairman of the board of the Enterprise Public Library, to consider a special work session with library board members to address issues about the operation and funding of the library.
Councilman Perry Vickers asked Windham if the county commission had been approached about the issue of funding. Windham said that a previous request had met with a negative response but that the library was not opposed to asking the county again.
The next meeting of the Enterprise City Council is Tuesday, July 18. A work session begins at 5 p.m. in the mayor’s conference room. A voting meeting begins at 6 p.m. in the council chambers. Both meetings are open to the public.
